Frequently Asked Questions — Deck Building in Marlborough, CT
How much does a deck cost in Marlborough, CT?
Deck costs in Marlborough typically range from $8,000–$15,000 for a basic pressure-treated wood deck to $20,000–$40,000+ for a large composite or multi-level deck. Pool decks and covered porches run higher depending on size and scope. We provide a free written estimate with line-item pricing so you know exactly what you’re getting before anything is signed.
Do I need a permit to build a deck in Marlborough?
Yes — virtually all attached decks and any deck over 30 inches off the ground require a building permit in Connecticut. Lagace Construction handles the entire process: we prepare the application, submit plans to the Marlborough building department, and coordinate all required inspections on your behalf.
Composite or pressure-treated wood — which should I choose?
Composite decking (Trex, TimberTech, Fiberon) costs more upfront but never needs staining or sealing and typically carries a 25-year warranty. Pressure-treated wood decks cost less upfront but need maintenance every 2–3 years. We build both and can walk you through the tradeoffs during your free estimate.
How long does it take to build a deck in Marlborough?
Most decks take 1–3 weeks to build once permits are approved. Permit approval through the Marlborough building department typically runs 2–4 weeks. Simple single-level decks can be built in a week; larger multi-level or covered structures take 2–4 weeks of build time.
Do you build pool decks in Marlborough?
Yes. We build above-ground and in-ground pool decks throughout Hartford County. Above-ground pool decks are sized and staired to code — we never cut corners on railing or stair specs. Call us to schedule a free estimate.
